How to Write a Powerful Case Study Analysis
Writing a great case study requires time and effort because a thorough analysis needs to be conducted if you want to come up with the paper, which people actually want to read.
Here are some simple guidelines on how to write a great case study, which is filled with valuable insights, valid analysis, supporting evidence and proposals of viable solutions.
1. Do the Research
It is important to do a preliminary in-depth investigation of the subject in order to see the issue from all the sides possible. It might take some time to sift through the substantial amount of information to gather relevant facts, which may help you understand the issue fully. Underline potential problems and make sure to take notes along the way in order not to miss anything important and relevant to the case.
2. Focus Your Investigation
Look through all previously highlighted problems and identify those that you consider being the most accountable for the issue. Think about why these causes exist and how exactly they influence the functioning of the organization. Identify who or what is responsible for these problems and map out several ways of how to deal with those key obstacles. Consider all the pros and cons while reflecting on how realistic your approach may be.
3. Start Writing
At this point, you should have enough information to start writing and organizing your ideas into a coherent text. Begin with an introduction where you need to state the main issue without giving away the potential solution, which will be outlined in the concluding part of your essay. Two or three sentences will be sufficient for a comprehensive thesis statement. The main part of the case study should start with background information on a specific topic. Here you will need to demonstrate that you conducted thorough research.
4. Discuss Alternatives and Proposed Solutions
You may include several possible alternatives and provide arguments about why they are to be rejected. In such a way, you will give more validation to the proposed solutions, which will follow afterwards. Outline the options that you’ve chosen as a resolution of a problem and explain why this was your choice. The pieces of evidence must be solid enough and you will need to support them with similarly solid concepts.
5. Finalize Your Case Study
Here you will need to reiterate the thesis statement outlined in the introductory part of your essay and briefly summarize the solutions listed in the body paragraphs. You may also add some facts or personal reflections, which will make a reader start contemplating what he would do to solve the discussed issue.
6. Review Your Essay
After your first draft is finished, leave it for some time if the deadline allows. Get back to your writing with a refreshed mind, read through your case study and make necessary adjustments in terms of context, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Think once again whether you managed to provide solid evidence and eliminate any inconsistencies that you may find. Ideally, ask other people to read your piece of writing and if you find their feedback valuable, make sure to apply the necessary changes to make your case study the best it can be.
